Memorandum to: Dr, Sue Ross, Coach Pat Miller, Mr, Tony Boon, Prof. Charles Cornwell, Prof. Ruth Ault, Prof. Lou Ortameyer, Ms. Katherine Allen, Mr. Vincent Long, Ms. Kirby Owen. From: Pres. Spencer
I have often said that coeducation is the best thing that has happened to Davidson College in modern times. The addition of women students has been a gain for the college in every way. In large part, the transition has been successful because of the positive attitude of students, faculty, and staff.
To help guarantee that we continue on a constructive route and ensure full participation by women in the life of the college, I’m asking those of you named above, with Sue Ross as Chairperson, to constitute a continuing Committee on Women’s Concerns. Your task will be to remain alert to concerns and needs of women at Davidson, to monitor our progress in that area, and to make recommendations to me if there are matters in which you think change would be beneficial.I would like to have a report from you at the end of each academic year. This is an important matter, and I will appreciate your willingness to serve.
Thank you,
