- BS: The very, one of the very first days on campus, I don’t even remember if classes had started, and I don't know how you’d find this out, but I just remember walking to the tennis courts with another woman. I don't know why I remember that trip. She was an exchange student or transfer student and later on the tennis team. So, we were both decent tennis players and and you know formed a friendship. And out of that grew, like, do you know anybody else that plays tennis? You know, then there's like five or six people. Then we're like, we want to play tennis. We're in college. So, let's have a team. And my hall counselor Carol Goldsborough who was a transfer student from Baltimore was our coach. She was a tennis player, but she was willing- she was a hall counselor, she was a doer, an organizer. And she was willing to be the coach and so we approached Sam Spencer and said we want a tennis team. And he was a tennis player and so we formed a tennis team and literally Carol Goldsborough picked up the phone, not a cell phone, to be somewhere to pick up a phone and called around and set up matches. You know, with Queens, with Pfeiffer, with Campbell, with- and one year we even went bold and played people that we probably weren't competitive with. But they played us, or their JV played us, like UNC and Wake Forest and UVA and those schools. And so we were a scrappy group, literally there were six of us. So, we played one through six. And then we played doubles with each other.
