From the 1977 Quips and Cranks yearbook. Susan Reid was one of the first female members of the men's swim team in 1973, alongside Kathryn Bridges. She earned her varsity letter in the sport in 1975, making her one of the first Davidson female athletes to receive a letter in a varsity sport.
Rebecca Stimson played tennis, basketball and field hockey at Davidson starting in 1974, and she received multiple varsity letters in tennis and basketball over her college career. She is the namesake of the Davidson female athletic award and was the first recipient of the award in 1977.
Emmy Knobloch was a tennis player and the first female recipient of the All American athlete award at Davidson College in 1982. She was also the recipient of the Rebecca Stimson award in 1982.
Kit Morris was the Director of Athletics at Davidson College from 1985 to 1989. Morris was serving as athletics director at Davidson in 1986 when women's athletics made the official move from NCAA Division III ranking to Division I.
