- Born c. 1864-1869. In 1870, he is listed as living in Davidson with his implied parents Tobe and Jane, and his implied siblings Lizzie, Ephraim, Isabella, Pattie, Hastings, Mary, and Emma. He married his wife Fannie c. 1885. In 1900, he is listed as living in Davidson with his wife Fannie, sons Dwight and James, and daughters Inez, Janice, Dasy, Rosanah, and an unnamed infant. He reportedly labored on Davidson's campus for roughly 80 years. He died on February 25, 1962. In regards to his passing, Dr. Chalmers Davidson wrote that "no living person who had been in the service of Davidson College knew or was known to as many alumni." His son John "Hujohn" Donaldson also worked on Davidson's campus.
