Through the efforts of Latinx students, the organization was first chartered by Davidson\u2019s Student Government Association in 1998, with the help of Davidson faculty and staff. Since then, the organization\u2019s executive board has increased from 4 to 10 members, reflecting the rapid growth of the Latinx population at Davidson College. Historically, the organization has been a vehicle for Latinx political activism as observed through its past initiatives with Davidson\u2019s Admission Office to help recruit Latinx students to Davidson, events to advocate for the tenure of Latinx professors, and the change of \u2018Latin\u2019 to \u2018Latinx\u2019 in their name in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">La Organizaci\u00f3n de Estudiantes Latinx Americanxs de la Universidad de Davidson es una organizaci\u00f3n inclusiva que celebra la Latinidad en sus m\u00faltiples formas en el campus de Davidson a trav\u00e9s de sus programaciones anuales. Por los esfuerzos de estudiantes Latinx, la organizaci\u00f3n fue aprobada por la Asociaci\u00f3n de Gobierno Estudiantil de Davidson en 1998, con el apoyo del profesorado y del personal de la Universidad. After another effort to push for these organizations, Davidson College finally permitted the expansion of Patterson Court Council in the spring of 2017. This paved the way for the establishment of a Latinx sorority and fraternity at Davidson \u2013 a new chapter in Latinx history for the Latinx community. In the fall of 2018, the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad\/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. was established. Subsequently, the following spring, Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc., Davidson College Associate Chapter was established on campus. The presence of these organizations on campus speaks to the growing presence of Latinx students at Davidson, but simultaneously highlights the labor required by the campus\u2019s Latinx community itself to advocate for and create new spaces for Latinidad to thrive in at Davidson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Antes del 2017, algunos estudiantes Latinx hab\u00edan tratado de convencer a &nbsp;la Administraci\u00f3n de la Universidad de incorporar organizaciones griegas Latinx al campus, pero los n\u00fameros de ese momento no eran suficientes para convencerlos.
